GED Testing Info - Overview



The Tests of General Educational Development (GED) provide adults who did not complete high school with an opportunity to earn a high school equivalency certificate. By taking and passing a series of five tests in Language Arts, Writing, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Reading, and Mathematics, adults demonstrate they have acquired a level of learning comparable to that of high school graduates.

The American Council of Education
The American Council of Education provides resources relating to the GED. Testing Information will provide specific information relating to registering and taking the test in your state. GED stands for the General Educational Development Test. The GED Test provides a basis for conferring a high school equivalency diploma on adults who have not graduated from high school. January 1, 2002 launched the current series of GED Tests. The state and national standards established for each subject ensure that the GED Tests continue to certify 12th grade ability in Language Arts, Writing; Social Studies; Science; Language Arts, Reading; and Mathematics.
