Application/Scores/Testing Sites
Individuals are not required to be Washington residents to take the GED Test, however they must have a Washington address in order to receive a GED certificate. Candidates must be 19 years of age or older to test without a signed high school release form. Those 16 -18 years of age must be officially withdrawn from school and present the signed high school release form to the test center.
GED candidates just obtain a standard score of 410 or above on each of the five tests AND a total standard score of 2250 or higher on the entire battery (average score of 450 on each test). Retesting may be done until minimum scores are obtained. Retesting fees are determined by the test center. In any calendar year, candidates may retake any one of the five GED sub-tests three times. There is a $75 fee to take the GED Tests in Washington, which includes the GED certificate and score reports upon written request.
Testing schedules are determined by local GED testing centers. The State GED Office does not maintain detailed information for individual test centers. To make an appointment to take the GED test, contact the test center nearest you.
