Application/Scores/Testing Sites

Individuals are required to be Minnesota residents to take the GED Test, and they must have a Minnesota address in order to receive a GED certificate. Candidates must be 19 years of age or older to test without a signed age waiver form. Those 16 and 17 years of age must be officially withdrawn from school and present the signed age waiver form to the test center.

GED candidates must obtain a standard score of 410 or above on each of the five tests AND a total standard score of 2250 or higher on the entire battery (average score of 450 on each test). Retesting may be done until minimum scores are obtained. Testing and retesting fees if necessary are determined by the test center. In any calendar year, candidates may take any one of the five GED sub-tests no more than three times.

Testing schedules are determined by local GED testing centers. The State GED Office does not maintain detailed information for individual test centers. To make an appointment to take the GED test, contact the test center nearest you.
